Morbius director Daniel Espinosa teases connections to Venom as well as potential ties to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and confirms that at least one version of Spider-Man exists in the movie's universe. The film will introduce Dr. Michael Morbius (Jared Leto). who, while searching for a cure for his rare blood disease, instead stumbles upon vampirism. In addition to Leto, the cast includes Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal, and Tyrese Gibson.
In the wake of Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), Sony Pictures is continuing to focus on its seemingly disconnected Spider-Man Universe. While Tom Holland’s Peter Parker/Spider-Man is operating within the MCU, the webslinger’s comic book roster is getting fleshed out in Sony’s pocket of the multiverse. Following Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021), Morbius marks the second Spider-Man antagonist/anti-hero to get the live-action, solo treatment. Preceding the upcoming Kraven The Hunter and Madame Web films, Leto’s Morbius presumably exists in the same universe as Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock/Venom. Multiple Morbius trailers have featured easter eggs including a Venom reference, Spider-Man graffiti, Oscorp, the Daily Bugle, and even Michael Keaton’s Adrian Toomes/Vulture.

During a Q&A with Cinemablend on Twitter, Daniel Espinosa confirmed Morbius exists in the same universe as Venom. On top of that, the director said that there is indeed a Spider-Man in that world. However, he wouldn’t reveal which Spider-Man. Though he did say that audiences will find out soon enough. Check out the exchange below:
