Jared Leto's Morbius needs to be the foil to a heroic Marvel character, but instead of Spider-Man, the ideal hero he needs to fight in order to shine as a villain is Blade. Sony's Spider-Man Universe is quickly filling up with a wide variety of Spider-Man villains, from the brutal yet heroic Venom to the bloodthirsty Morbius and even a visitor from a different universe, Vulture. With no Spider-Man to antagonize, these anti-heroes have waged battles against other ruthless villains such as Carnage and Lucian. But eventually, they will need to fight a fully-fledged hero.
Morbius has been regarded as a Spider-Man villain ever since he crossed paths with Peter Parker in the pages of 1971's The Amazing Spider-Man #101. However, his vampiric nature has also earned him a place in the paranormal corner of the Marvel universe, where he has crossed paths with supernatural MCU characters such as Man-Thing and Werewolf by Night. Most importantly, Morbius has been both a friend and a foe to Blade, who received his famous Daywalker abilities from a bite of the Living Vampire.

The eventual confrontation between Sony's Sinister Six and Spider-Man is perhaps the most anticipated event in Sony's Spider-Man Universe. Although Spider-Man: No Way Home pitched three different Spider-Men against five of their famous supervillains, fans are yet to see a fully-formed Sinister Six team take on a single Spider-Man on the big screen. But while Morbius is set up to be a member of Sony's Sinister Six, there's very little connecting him with Spider-Man.
