Morbius is by no means a flop, however, with the Sony-Verse movie projected to gross around $33 million from 4,200 theaters in its opening weekend and earning $5.7 million from its Thursday night preview screenings alone.
Set in the same universe as Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Morbius brings the titular "Living Vampire" to the big screen for the first time. Sony's Morbius serves as its protagonists' origin story, with Dr. Michael Morbius (Jared Leto) turning into a superpowered vampire after attempting to cure the rare blood disease afflicting himself and his brother Milo (Matt Smith).
