Sony has just announced its flagship tier WF-1000XM4 TWS earbuds in India. Coming in as the successor to the WF-1000XM3, the XM4 costs ₹19,990 and comes in two colours – black and silver. The earbuds will be available for purchase on January 16 and will be available via Sony Center and Sony Exclusive stores, major electronics stores, ShopatSC online portal and other e-commerce platforms.
At this price, the WF-1000XM4 TWS earbuds bring in some upgrades in the form of LDAC codec support, a smaller form factor, and some staple features such as Active Noise Cancellation and support for app. The WF-1000XM4 TWS competes directly with the Apple AirPods 3rd Gen and the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro.
The biggest upgrade to the Sony WF-1000XM4 is the new Integrated Processor V1 that also brings active noise cancellation and LDAC codec support. The chip also brings support for Sony's 360 Reality Audio feature. Sony promises better sound quality through LDAC's improved data transfer rates. This means that users can take advantage of high-resolution lossless audio streaming from services such as Tidal and Apple Music.
The WF-1000XM4 also gets a new 6mm driver unit with a 20% increase in magnet volume, which is said to enhance its noise cancelling capabilities. Additionally, it takes advantage of features such as DSEE and Hi Res audio. Sony has also baked some smart features such as Speak-To-chat and Quick Attention mode. There's also support for Google Fast Pair on Android devices and one can also enable voice assistants.
