As confirmed earlier this year, Gamescom 2023 will be taking place in Cologne, Germany in August, and though we’re still obviously in the middle of a string of summer events and showcases (with the likes of Ubisoft Forward and Xbox Games Showcase still to come), details on the August trade show are beginning to emerge as well.
As reported by German outlet GamesMarkt, Sony won’t be attending Gamescom 2023. The outlet says the company confirmed in a statement that PlayStation is skipping the show, just as it did last year. Given the fact that we just got the PlayStation Showcase in May, and that Sony also had a presence at the recent Summer Game Fest, it might not come as a massive surprise that it’s going to be a while before the company is ready to start talking about upcoming releases again.
Not much is known yet about which companies will be in attendance at Gamescom this year, but in April, it was confirmed that Nintendo will be attending.
Gamescom will kick off with Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 22, with the main event set to run from August 23 to August 27.
