PlayStation's marketing team has pulled off some memorable stunts in the past, but this latest promotion might actually take the cake. On Friday and Saturday of this week, just hours before the Champions League final takes place, Sony's inviting people to test their skills with a massive PS5-themed pinball machine. Claim the high score and you'll win tickets to the aforementioned footie final between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid. Not a bad prize...
You can find the gigantic pinball attraction in London's Trafalgar Square, and at this point, it's probably worth mentioning that the Champions League match is also happening in London, at Wembley Stadium. So thankfully, if you do win those tickets, you won't have to worry about booking an immediate flight out of the country.
The machine itself looks fantastic. Again, it's PS5-themed, so you've got the colour scheme, an amazing Astro model — with moving eyes — and a bunch of references to various PlayStation Studios games, including Gran Turismo and God of War. The whole thing is operated via a DualSense controller, too.
Would you give this thing a shot? Dare we ask if you actually plan on visiting? Absolutely slam some pinballs in the comments section below.
Robert (or Rob if you're lazy) has been a fan of PlayStation since the 90s, when Tekken 2 introduced him to the incredible world of video games. He still takes his fighting games seriously, but RPGs are his true passion. The Witcher, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, he's played 'em all — a little too much, some might say.
Wonder why they've never made a digital pinball game there's a wealth of IP to make tables out of in PlayStation's catalogue.
Sony sure knows how to PR and with football.
Also the same weekend console prices etc have their prices dropped.
They make marketing and advertising seem so simple and common sense, especially as Xbox seem not to have a clue.
Nintendo are ok at it as well.
Yeah that Astro Bot game must be real at this point.
