Sons of the Forest developer Endnight Games has revealed that, since the game’s recent early access release on PC, it has been quite successful. The studio announced on Twitter that over 2 million copies of Sons of the Forest have been sold in the first 24 hours of its release.
The success should not be surprising to those paying attention, since the game’s launch earlier this week instantly led to a peak concurrent player count of over 350,000 players. For the sake of comparison, its predecessor—The Forest—hit an all-time peak of 76,226 players in October 2022.
Sons of the Forest is a survival crafting game that takes place on an island filled with cannibals and mutants. In their efforts to find a missing billionaire, players will have to scavenge, build, and craft tools and weapons to defend themselves against the hostile forces.
Leading up to its early access launch, Sons of the Forest got a trailer showing off its multiplayer capabilities, allowing for up to 8 players to play through the game together. Sons of the Forest is currently only available on PC.
