Sonic the Hedgehog star Ben Schwartz has left a Sonic plush toy at the airport in the hopes it goes on a global adventure with fans. Released in 2020, the first Sonic the Hedgehog movie was a hit, earning over $319 million worldwide. Although proving more divisive among critics, the success of Sonic the Hedgehog led to a sequel getting the green light.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which was released in theaters last week, has also been a hit, earning over $71 million in its opening weekend domestically. The film sees the return of Schwartz as the voice of Sonic and also brings back Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, James Marsden as Tom, Tika Sumpter as Maddie, and Lee Majdoub as Agent Stone. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 introduces several highly anticipated characters from the video game, including Knuckles, voiced by Idris Elba, and Tails, voiced by Colleen O'Shaughnessey.

In a recent tweet, Schwartz provides Sonic the Hedgehog fans a way to participate in a fun, globetrotting adventure. The actor left a stuffed Sonic the Hedgehog at Gate 28 in LAX with written instructions for the finder to bring the toy with them on their next adventure before handing him off to another traveler. Schwartz encourages those who participate to write the names of the cities Sonic travels to on the toy's feet and also to take pictures in various places around the world.
