The Red Hood nearly got the most perfect form of revenge for the voting competition that took his life. A stunt eerily reminiscent of the «Death in the Family» fan poll showed Jason Todd attempting to use call-in votes to decide the fate of Batman in a meta form of payback for the worst moment in his life.
Change isn't always well-received in comics and unfortunately for Jason, he came in to replace a Robin who had served for decades. After it was decided by DC editorial that a vote to decide whether or not a character would live would be a fun experiment, the second Robin was the one put on the chopping block. With more than 10,000 calls and a slim margin of 72 votes, fans voted for Jason to die in the most brutal fashion, cementing «Death in the Family» as one of the most infamous storylines in comic book history.

But after coming back from the dead, Jason attempts to show everyone that he can be the protector that Gotham truly needs. After Batman is presumed dead, Red Hood takes on a new look and a new partner for a campaign that consists of slick marketing gimmicks and an increased level of brutality. Dick sets out to stop Jason from hurting more people or getting himself killed, but Red Hood gets the better of the Dynamic Duo. In Batman and Robin #6 by Grant Morrison and Philip Tan, Red Hood strips Batman and Robin and sets up a webcam ready to stream online. Jason informs the public that all it takes is one million calls to see the secret identities of the Dark Knight and the Boy Wonder revealed.
