Gotham Knights' Red Hood traverses Gotham City using magical abilities that may confuse those unfamiliar with the deeper lore surrounding the anti-hero. Gameplay footage shows him using magical energy to both traverse the skies of Gotham through a series of jumps and amplify his attacks. When compared to the relatively down-to-earth «Flying Trapeze» Glider that Nightwing uses in Gotham Knights, these abilities can seem downright mystifying. That being said, there has been groundwork established in Red Hood's lore that demystifies some of the more outlandish feats seen in the reveal.
In the current continuity Jason Todd, the second Robin, was killed by the Joker. His body was later exhumed and submerged in a revitalizing font known as a Lazarus Pit, a retcon from previous DC canon where he was resurrected during the events of Infinite Crisis. The submersion revived Jason, and after he regained his senses he was sent to train with a society of warriors and assassins known as the All Caste. They instructed Jason in the arcane arts, and in addition to enhanced physical and martial abilities, Jason also gained deeper spiritual and mystical abilities like being able to channel his soul energy.

Gotham Knights justifies Red Hood's magic superpowers by tapping into the deeper lore surrounding his resurrection and the subsequent training and processing that came after. His time with the All Caste taught him to tap into his soul energy and use it as a source of power. The processing of his grief allows him to hone it. In doing so, he can perform the feats seen in the reveal trailer, such as leaping off of air to traverse or charging his strikes with mystical
