Fans have gotten another promising look at Gotham Knights with a new trailer that shows off more of the upcoming superhero title’s gameplay. Announced way back in 2020, Gotham Knights will serve as a reboot and spiritual successor to Rocksteady’s critically-acclaimed Batman: Arkham series. Developed by Batman: Arkham Origins studio WB Montreal, Gotham Knights will have players take control of famed Bat-Family members Nightwing, Batgirl, Red Hood, and Robin as they step forward to defend the titular city in the wake of Batman's mysterious death. The primary antagonists of Gotham Knights are the Court of Owls, a secret society seeking to control Gotham City with the help of their dreaded enforcers, the Talons.
While Gotham Knights isn’t connected to the previous Batman: Arkham series in terms of narrative, it does share several gameplay elements with the series — namely a focus on stealth and melee combat that will have players sneaking around and taking out enemies from the shadows with a wide range of Bat-themed gadgets and martial arts maneuvers. When Gotham Knights was first unveiled, fans were treated to a small sample of the game in action as Batgirl and Robin battled Mr. Freeze. Later Gotham Knights gameplay trailers would show the many new additions the game is making to the time-tested Arkham formula, such as a wide array of vehicles that the team can use to travel through the open world of Gotham, customizable costumes for each hero, and character-specific abilities like Red Hood's controversial mystic powers.
