The new book from Wizards of the Coast, Dungeons & Dragons: Journeys Through the Radiant Citadel, was advertised with a reference to the movie Safety Not Guaranteed. Radiant Citadel is an upcoming anthology book of new standalone adventures set in the Ethereal plane. D&D's Radiant Citadel features 13 adventures, new locations such as eponymous Radiant Citadel, and new monsters.
Safety Not Guaranteed is a sci-fi romantic comedy from 2012. The story follows a group of magazine writers investigating a bizarre newspaper ad. The quote from the ad reads “Wanted: Somebody to go back in time with me. This is not a joke. P.O. Box 91 Ocean View, WA 99393. You'll get paid after we get back. Must bring your own weapons. I have only done this once before. SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED.” The writers then travel to meet the man who posted the ad, and romantic shenanigans that later involve government agents ensue.

The official Dungeons & Dragons Twitter posted a tweet advertising the Journey Through the Radiant Citadel as an intriguing ad that references Safety Not Guaranteed. The tweeted image reads: “DANCERS WANTED. Safety Not Guaranteed! Wanted: Someone to dance on an erupting volcano with me. This is not a joke.”Then aside from switching the P.O. box address to“Ask for Ollin at the Twin Gods Observatory” the ad follows the movie quote almost verbatim. The ad is paired with a picture of a tiefling dressed in exotic dancer clothes, complete with colorful feathers, setting the scene for what this particular adventure may lead to.
