The Joker accidentally revealed how he feels about the Robin role when he first set eyes on Tim Drake. The Clown Prince of Crime's first words at seeing Drake as the Boy Wonder gave a look into the villain's twisted worldview and how Robin fits into it.
When the Joker killed Jason Todd, there's no doubt among any fan that he damaged Batman and his allies in a way no other villain had done. For years, Batman swore off the Robin role, refusing to take on another partner and put another young life in danger. But no one desired to wear the Robin costume more than Tim Drake, who fought and clawed to prove himself worthy, which he did. Despite knowing the danger he could possibly come up against, Tim remained strong in his mission as the new partner to Batman. But shortly into his career as the new Robin, the young hero came face-to-face with the man responsible for killing the previous Boy Wonder.

In Robin II: Joker's Wild #1 by Chuck Dixon and Tom Lyle, Tim is embarking on his first solo patrol while Batman is on business in Rio. Unfortunately for the new Robin, the Joker has once again escaped Arkham Asylum and is making a beeline for Gotham City. Robin discovers a clue in the Joker's cell which leads him to think the Joker may be interested in a computer scientist named Dr. Osgood Pellinger. Tim stakes out the Pellinger's home and follows him when the doctor leaves at an unusual hour. Before Pellinger can get too far, the Joker comes by with a snow plow to scoop up the doctor's car, forcing Tim to intervene. The Joker has quite a visceral reaction to the sight of the new Boy Wonder.
