The man who broke Batman's back will suffer just as badly when Bane takes center stage in his own Batman — One Bad Day one-shot from DC Comics. Bane is infamous in the DC Universe for breaking the Bat, but after so many decades, that refrain holds about as much weight as your uncle insisting what a great running back he was in college. It’s time for Bane to create a new legacy, though in doing so, he may destroy himself.
DC has announced a new lineup of eight one-shot comics focusing on iconic Batmanvillains. Titled One Bad Day—of course a reference to Alan Moore’s seminal Killing Joke—the series features stories of the Penguin, the Riddler, Mr. Freeze, Two-Face, Catwoman, Clayface, and Ra’s al Ghul. But the most surprising inclusion is Bane, the Peña Duran mercenary whose last appearance in Infinite Frontier #0 saw him become a victim of assassination at Arkham Asylum. His face was horribly disfigured in the apparent trademark of Joker’s laughing gas, immediately generating mystery around the culprit of the attack.

It has since been suggested that the Bane killed during A-Day was a clone, now working for Amanda Waller and Red Hood in the extrajudicial Task Force Z. Even more clandestine than the Suicide Squad, Task Force Z’s operatives are all undead; sustained by serums based on the Lazarus Pit and promised full resurrection upon the completion of their tasks. The zombie-clone Bane on Task Force Z has all of the original’s memories, but presently seems to be choosing a more noble path. But that doesn’t mean the real Bane can’t still be harboring villainous intent against Batman and company, and the logline for his One Bad Day story indicates
