Fans of pixels and punching are going to want to be ready for Final Vendetta when it dropkicks its way onto Steam, Switch, PS4/PS5 and Xbox on June 17. It's a retro side scrolling beat-em-up that should be instantly recognisable to fans of games like Final Fight, Streets of Rage or Double Dragon. It's as much a homage as it is a new entry to the genre, developed by Bitmap Bureau who released the 362% Kickstarter funded arcade shooter Xeno Crisis on Mega Drive, Dreamcast and Neo Geo. So, yeah, they know their way around retro console action games!.
Final Vendetta is an up to two player co-op experience which involves fighting across various London locations (including the Underground) to defeat the Syndic8 gang and rescue the kidnapped sister of Claire Sparks - a martial arts expert (from Essex!) who teams up with bare knuckle boxer Duke Sancho and ex-pro wrestler Miller T. Williams to smash their way through London on their mission.
This is a beautifully crisp pixel art return to side scrolling fighting, as you fight, dodge, block and juggle enemies using each character's unique set of fighting skills. All this car smashing chaos also takes place against an incredible soundtrack, featuring new and exclusive tracks from artists like Utah Saints, Featurecast and Krafty Kuts!
There's plenty to do too, with a basic arcade game mode joined by a survival mode and boss rush to test your skills, as well as a Vs mode to go up against friends. This is a hardcore fighter with dozens of moves, combos and attacks to master across all three characters, creating a game with all the depth and challenge of the classic beat em ups it sits alongside.
