Smite 2's 24/7 closed alpha gets an update, and the team is introducing two fan favorite gods that will appear in the sequel: Nu Wa and Amaterasu.
Nu Wa, the Chinese goddess of order and creation, makes her mark by excelling at crowd control and area damage. Her ultimate ability will hit all enemies on the map with a celestial beam. That's one way to put things in order.
Meanwhile, Amaterasu, in Shinto, is one of the most important Japanese mythological deities. As the sun goddess and ruler of heavens, that her kit uses auras that enhance your allies’ power and movement speed, along with damaging attacks, makes sense.
The update adds those two goddesses to the roster and and some community requested features. Ranked features like the Role Preference System and Ranked Leaderboards are in. The system is designed to help everyone get better matches. Rank the roles from 1-5, Which lets the system learn your preferences. How well you actually play in the roles that you ranked also has a part to play in the brand new matchmaking overhaul. Now that the system is actually available, if you have access to the alpha, you'll be able to test out the more personalized matchmaking.
The update also adds a brand new tutorial to help you get started in Arena mode and several improvements to co-op mode. Conquest is also getting Pyromancer back, Something else the community had wanted.
Esports also make a splash with Smite 2’s Founder’s Series qualifying rounds. The competition began over the weekend and continues. You can watch the competition unfold and see who makes it to the final $300k prize pool event in Las Vegas in January.
