Samuel L. Jackson battles to remember in the trailer for Apple's new drama, The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey. Based on the book by Walter Mosley, Jackson stars as the titular Ptolemy, a man with severe dementia who takes an experimental treatment that returns his memories at the cost of his life. Ptolemy uses his remaining months and rediscovered memories to uncover the truth surrounding a lost loved one, all while seeking out a long-forgotten treasure. Jackson, who also acts as the show's executive producer, is joined by Marsha Stephanie Blake, Walton Goggins, and Judas and the Black Messiah's Dominique Fishback, with BAFTA-winner Ramin Bahrani directing.
Revealed by Apple TV, the first teaser for The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey shows Jackson in an emotionally heavy lead role. The trailer shows Jackson's Ptolemy both before taking the life-changing drug, as the dementia-stricken man struggles with day-to-day life, as well as after accepting the groundbreaking medication. While benefiting from the clarity of the new treatment, Jackson reveals he intends to hunt down a treasure, once stolen by his uncle, as his condition begins to deteriorate.
