Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds reacts to the reveal of Wayne T. Carr's John Stewart from Zack Snyder's Justice League. One of the biggest DC projects to have an intense level of attention is the infamous Justice League Snyder Cut. After Warner Bros. and Joss Whedon retooled the filmmaker's original film in 2017, fans fought for Snyder to get his true vision restored, which led to the 4-hour cut getting a home with HBO Max. Despite Snyder getting to show the world what he had originally planned to do with his Justice League, there are still a few elements that he had to remove.
While the Snyder Cut featured a number of Green Lanterns, the plan was to also introduce John Stewart, with Carr portraying the iconic Emerald Knight. This would have been the character's live-action debut, as John has been heavily present in animated projects. Despite having filmed scenes with him, Warner Bros. ultimately forbade Snyder from using Stewart as they had other plans for the character. This was likely for the Green Lantern Corps movie that has been in development hell since late 2014. However, in 2021, Snyder was able to show, through his phone, a shot of Carr in his Green Lantern costume, before the actor was able to release it in HD this year.
