A new Rise of the Ronin trailer was shared today, focusing on the game's combat mechanics.
The new Combat Vignette trailer, which can be watched below, showcases different weapon types, such as katana, spear, and bayonet, different fighting styles, ranged weapons, and the grappling hook, which will have plenty of uses other than traversing the game's open world. The Team NINJA DNA is evident in this new trailer, so hopefully, Rise of the Ronin will have the same combat depth as other games from the studio, such as the Nioh series and Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin.
Unlike the Nioh series, Rise of the Ronin will not be a soulslike game. As such, it will be considerably more accessible, featuring different difficult settings and optional PvE multiplayer that should make it easier for players to get into the adventure set in Japan at the end of the 19th century.
In Rise of the Ronin, players can join up to three others to experience the game’s main story missions in online co-op. Note that a PlayStation Plus membership is required to play online, and there is no PVP combat.
Rise of the Ronin releases on March 22nd on PlayStation 5 worldwide. A PC version has yet to be announced, but it is likely coming at some point, considering the Nioh series debuted on PlayStation consoles before getting ported.
