Capcom has revealed their plans for the first patches to Dragon’s Dogma 2, with a 30fps cap on consoles and the ability to start a new game two of the highest priorities for the RPG.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 launched last week with plenty of high praise coming from reviewers, though there were some complaints that were massively amplified once gamers got their hands on the long-awaited sequel and encountered some of its quirks. Performance has been a real sticking point for many, both on PC and console, with the game’s hefty use of NPCs putting a lot of strain on CPUs and limiting performance. This has been compounded on console by the unlocked frame rate.
Thankfully PS5 and Xbox Series X|S will get options for a 30fps cap to help reduce stutter, as well as the more aesthetic changes to toggle motion blur and ray tracing. Capcom notes these will not affect frame rate significantly, and that performance improvements will wait until future updates.
There’s also the ability to start a new game when save data already exists – a bizarre oversight – and with the game’s optional paid DLC for consumable items coming in for a lot of criticism, Capcom are increasing the number of character customising ‘Art of Metamorphosis’ items available in the game to 99.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 might have a few flaws, but they’re well worth looking past in our opinion. For our Dragon’s Dogma 2 review, Jason said, “Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a triumph of a game that wants you to just take your time and see everything you possibly can. You’ll be constantly pulled from your path by a new cave, a random quest, a chest one of your Pawns has found, random fights, and it’s all part of the experience. I adore this game, and while it has some aspects I think some will find too clunky, it’s a masterpiece.”
