It looks like there is going to be some Resident Evil news on the way, according to a recent Tweet from Capcom. The famed Japanese survival horror franchise could be due for another entry relatively soon, as its release schedule has been packed over the past few years.
Resident Evil has been seeing something of a renaissance lately. Many fans of the franchise were disappointed following the release of Resident Evil 6 back in 2012, prompting Capcom to put the game on a five-year hiatus. After this break, the developer rolled out Resident Evil: Biohazardin 2017, which served as something of a soft reboot for the series, taking it back to its low-ammo, slow-paced, survival-horror roots while shaking things up by implementing a first-person perspective. This new direction for the franchise would continue in last year's Resident Evil Village, but not before Capcom rebuilt Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 from the ground-up, with reported plans to do the same with other earlier games in the series. The IP has also been rebooted on the film side of things via the recent Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City.
