New Atsushi Ohkubo Series Teased in Final Fire Force Chapter
The final chapter of Atsushi Ohkubo'sFire Force manga was published in the 13th issue of this year’s Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine on Tuesday. The chapter’s final page contained a message from the manga’s editorial department asking fans to “look forward to Atsushi Ohkubo's next work.”
Ohkubo had previously stated in May 2020 that Fire Force would be his final series, so whether he returns with another manga remains to be seen. An important announcement for the franchise was also teased.

Fire Force began serialization in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine in 2015, amassing 32 collected volumes throughout its run so far. The series has over 17 million copies in circulation worldwide, with the 32nd volume having shipped in Japan on December 17.
A 49-episode anime adaptation animated by David Production ran from 2019-2020. Yuki Yase (Monogatari Series Second Season, Mekakucity Actors) directed the first half of the series, with Tatsuma Minamikawa (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind, Gintama) taking over for the last half. Kenichiro Suehiro (Re:Zero, Goblin Slayer) worked as the series composer, with character designs by Hideyuki Morioka (Kizumonogatari, D.Gray-man).
Ohkubo's previous series, Soul Eater, ran in Square Enix's Monthly Shōnen Gangan magazine from 2004-2013, amassing 25 collected volumes throughout its run. The series inspired a handful of game adaptations, a spin-off manga, and an anime from Studio Bones. The 51-episode anime ran from 2006-2009, with Takuya Igarashi (Sailor Moon Sailor Stars, Bungo Stray Dogs) directing the series.
