Rainbow Six Siege's latest season, Demon Veil, is now live, and it's kicking off the game's Year 7 update cycle in a big way.
The two biggest additions to Ubisoft's tactical shooter with this update are a new Japanese Defender operator, Azami, and the inclusion of a permanent Team Deathmatch mode. Azami looks to be one of the more game-changing operators added to Rainbow Six Siege in quite some time. Her Kiba Barrier gadget (which is a high-tech kunai) can be thrown from a distance and sticks to walls, after which it releases a bulletproof material that can patch holes and surfaces. This allows Azami to stay mobile while still improving defenses.
Team Deathmatch is also a welcome addition to Rainbow Six Siege's list of permanent game modes. The mode creates a more casual-friendly space within the game where players can test out operators, weapons, gadgets, and attachments outside of the high-stakes, one-life-per-round gameplay found in Siege's other game modes.
While Team Deathmatch and Azami lead the charge, more features and updates will be coming in the weeks and months to come as part of the Demon Veil season. Future updates will include a new map set in Ireland, a match replay function for console players, balance changes for operators like Goyo and Valkyrie, and more.
For those wanting to dive into Rainbow Six Siege and experience the new Team Deathmatch mode, the game will be available to play for free from March 17-24 on PlayStation consoles and PC.
Players who want to be among the first to play Azami can purchase the game's Year Pass for $30 (which includes four seasonal battle passes) or the Premium Year Pass (which in addition to the battle passes includes exclusive skins, credits, and additional battle pass
