After several delays throughout 2021 and a few teases about the new character coming to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, Japanese indie studio ArtPlay is ready to roll out the game’s next big content update. Arriving on March 31, this free DLC features a crossover character from a popular Ubisoft platforming game who has found herself in the dark world of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night launched in June 2019 following a successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter that raised over $5.5 million. The project is spearheaded by former Castlevania series producer Koji Igarashi and is a spiritual successor to games like Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Over the past three years, ArtPlay has continued supporting and expanding Bloodstained through content updates and DLC.

A new blog post by the Bloodstained team reveals that the latest character coming to the game is Aurora from 2014’s Child of Light, developed by Ubisoft. ArtPlay details several items and characters that players can expect to see when Aurora arrives in Bloodstained. Two of which include the Sword of Matildis and the appearance of Igniculus, Aurora’s whisp companion who will accompany her throughout her Bloodstained journey. Aurora will grow stronger and gain abilities as she ages and defeats bosses. As players progress, they will unlock new movement abilities, which will allow them to reach previously inaccessible parts of the map in classic Metroidvania fashion. This update, labeled 1.30, launches on March 31 for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox and will launch for the Nintendo Switch at a later date.
