The yet-to-be-announced Resident Evil 9 is said to bring a close to the Winters story arc that began with the seventh entry in the series, but it may not be the sequel some expect it to be.
Speaking on The Snitch's Discord server, Dusk Golem, who provided correct information on the survival horror series in the past, clarified a previous statement, saying that they don't think the next entry in the series will be a direct sequel to Village, although both the eight and ninth entries in the series were planned together so as to bring a conclusion to the current story arc.
While Resident Evil 9 is going to close the current story arc, in some ways, it will also mark a new beginning for the series, as the franchise will move onto new story arcs and in a new direction. As for when we will be able to experience this ourselves, Dusk Golem reiterated the game isn't releasing before 2025 at the earliest unless development proceeds super well as it did with the Resident Evil 4 remake, whose development was completed earlier than expected after the internal reboot.
Resident Evil 9 has yet to be announced. We will keep you updated on the game as soon as more come in on it, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
