Capcom has released Resident Evil 4’s latest update and removed a popular speedrunning trick.
According to the patch notes for the April 23 patch, the developer has fixed an issue which allowed players to warp through walls when using the scope in certain areas.
Expectedly, many players were using this trick to ‘speedrun’ the game, which is when users compete to finish a title as quickly as possible, employing any and all glitches to do so.
In addition, the patch notes state that Capcom has readjusted graphics rendering process changes made on Xbox Series X|S in a recent April 7 patch. Some users had claimed this had caused a dithering effect on the platform.
Capcom has also added additional changes to stick dead zone (the range in which the controller’s sticks don’t respond to movement). The full patch notes can be found below.

Earlier this month, Capcom added microtransactions to the Resident Evil 4 remake, enabling players to pay extra to upgrade their weapons quicker.
The free Mercenaries mode DLC was also added to the game, accompanied by 11 new pieces of paid DLC called ‘Exclusive Upgrade Tickets’, each letting players speed up the upgrade process.
