UK indie label Team17 is reportedly looking at laying off one-third of its staff.
That's according to Eurogamer, which writes that the publisher might be making up to 91 people redundant. Initially, it was reported that the layoffs would mostly impact Team17's quality assurance departments. It now appears that employees in a wider range of departments, such as marketing, usability, customer service, IT and human resources could be on the chopping block.
Eurogamer also reports that developers who have partnered with Team17 for projects have been in touch for fear that the publisher is unable to fulfil their work. Development partners have seemingly also not been made aware of the layoffs by Team17.
When it was initially reported, 50 jobs were apparently at risk, though the entire company is seemingly facing consultation.
The CEO of Team17's Digital division, Michael Pattison, is also leaving the company having joined the firm in 2021.
