Report: Embracer considering Gearbox sale

That's according to Reuters, which reports that the company might even be open to selling the Borderlands maker. This is part of Embracer's restructuring effort in the wake of a $2 billion deal falling apart. That affected the company's finances so much that it has said that it might have to lay people off, close studios and cut projects.
Embracer bought Gearbox back in 2021 in a deal worth $1.3 billion. At the time, the developer's boss Randy Pitchford said that the acquisition was a "rocket booster for [the company's] ambitions".
Apparently, there are a few companies that have expressed interest in buying the Borderlands maker from the Swedish games firm.

This comes in the wake of Embracer closing down Plaion's Volition and making reported layoffs at Gearbox's Publishing arm.
