As Shadowlands Season 3 officially begins, players logging on to loot their Great Vault this week shouldn't be alarmed to realize it is still awarding Season 2 gear, capped at item level 252. Like previous seasons, this is completely normal and expected, as the rewards are based on the last week's activities, which were still a part of Season 2.
That doesn't mean it's wasted though. Even if you don't particularly need any of the items on offer, or aren't keen on looting something that might quickly be replaced by new Mythic+ or Sepulcher of the First Ones gear, you can always opt to take the three Attendant's Token of Merit and exchange them for Cosmic Flux Parcel's instead.
Although Cosmic Flux isn't a particularly rare resource, awarded from most activities including daily quests, mythic+ dungeons, and raids, it will be used to upgrade legendaries to item level 291 or create tier set pieces through the Creation Catalyst system, and may ultimately prove more useful in Patch 9.2. If that isn't appealing, you can still buy other trade goods from Ko'tul instead.
For those of you looking to maximize your Great Vault rewards, this is the week to farm Mythic+, complete arena matches, and attempt bosses inside the new raid, to unlock as many options as possible for your first Great Vault reward in Season 3. Blizzard also recently reduced the requirements to unlock options within the vault, making this easier than ever before.
