The Boys Season 3 Trailer Teases Black Noir's New Homelander Twist
The trailer for TheBoys season 3indicates that Amazon's iteration of Black Noir and Homelander is receiving a shocking twist similar to that of the comics. The show is known for paying tribute to Garth Ennis' original vision while modernizing The Boys' parody of DC and Marvel comic book characters to comment on current cultural events. However, The Boys' season 3 trailer depicts several revelations that change the course of the show. Although some of the most notable developments in the trailer include Billy Butcher using laser vision and Soldier Boy coming out of stasis, there is another moment that readers of The Boys comics recognize as extremely significant.
At first, Black Noir may not seem notable because, in the first two seasons of The Boys, he is a henchman carrying out tasks for the Vought corporation rather than a character with wants and desires. While Black Noir's powers are astronomically strong, his intelligence, identity, and personality are left ambiguous. Meanwhile, in the comics, Black Noir is the main antagonist of the entire series. Vought engineers a clone of Homelander (Black Noir) as a means to kill him if he ever steps out of line. Black Noir goes mad while waiting to fulfill his purpose and pushes Homelander to his breaking point by framing him for various crimes.
