Netflix's stunning animated series Arcane was quickly picked up for a second season shortly after its late-2021 premiere—a season which is bound to feature two exciting new League of Legends champions in the «Blood Brothers», Darius and Draven. A recurring character in Arcane season 1 was Noxian Warlord Ambessa Medarda, a character who potentially sets up the introduction of multiple prominent champions while further expanding the scope of the series beyond its original setting. While season 1 tended to focus more closely on the nations of Zaun and Piltover, season 2 could split the focus between these already established locations and the untapped potential of Runetera—specifically the brutal, expansionist empire of Noxus.
With Darius being described as Noxus's most feared and battle-hardened leader, and a powerful League of Legends champion, and Draven being hailed as Noxus's most celebrated Reckoner, or gladiator, the two brothers have become some of the most recognizable champions of the popular video game's stacked roster. As Arcane season 1 chose to focus on established champions such as Vi, Jynx, and Jayce and giving each a well-written arc in the process, the inclusion of an original character in Ambessa Medarda gives developer Riot an ideal opportunity to shift focus towards other fan-favorite champions, with the Blood Brothers being ideal candidates. Medarda's Noxian connections, both established and hinted at in season 1, may have been secretly setting up their future arrival.
