Do you remember the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro? These phones were one of the best ones to buy if you had a budget of just around Rs. 40,000. Sadly, India never got to see the successors to these phones considering they were all rebadged as Xiaomi Mi branded smartphones, or Poco phones. Xiaomi, however, is bringing back the K series to India, as suggested by its newest teaser. And if the rumours are true, this could be the Redmi K50i that India is supposed to get this year.
The Redmi K50i series has been rumoured to be the rebranded Redmi Note 11T Pro series from China. Given that these phones are all focused on performance, it makes perfect sense to introduce these phones as the Redmi K series to India. Xiaomi could, however, pull off a surprise and launch the Redmi K50 in India too. However, with the Xiaomi 12 Pro already here in India, it makes little sense to bring a cheaper variant of the same phone.
The rumoured Redmi K50i is essentially supposed to be the Redmi Note 11T Pro, which launched in China a couple of months ago. The Redmi K50i could hence, feature the powerful MediaTek Dimensity 8100 chip, which powers the Realme GT Neo 3. The Dimensity 8100 offers almost the same kind of performance as the Snapdragon 888 chip.
This could be supported by a 144Hz variable refresh rate 6.67-inch IPS LCD display with a Full HD+ resolution. This seems to be the same display that we saw years ago on the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro. The phone could also rely on a 5080mAh battery and Redmi could offer a 67W wired fast chargers in the box.
Considering that this is a Redmi Note device in China, the cameras could be rather simple. The Chinese version has a 64MP main camera accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP third camera.
