China's Nekcom secures $8m in Series A round
pcgamesinsider.bizChinese game developer Nekcom has raised $8 million in its Series A funding round.
This cash will be put towards game development, research and development as well as an international expansion. Part of this growth is in the United States with the establishment of Nekcom USA, which will be headed up by CEO Kimmy Li.
“The U.S. has been strategically important for Nekcom since day one, as we are focused on our high-level console and PC game development," the company's chair and founder Xiangyu Luo said.
"We are excited to open our office in Manhattan, led by Kimmy Li, to drive international expansion. Our development team in China will benefit from her vast business experience as we continue development of both our Dying and Showa series.”
The funding round was led by Galaxy Interactive, whose partner Ryan You will be joining the studio's board.
Nekcom was founded back in 2011 and is best known for Dying 1883 and Dying Reborn.
