The DICE Awards are a ceremony held by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) which chooses a selection of games released each year to nominate for their achievements in the field. For 2021, the Academy chose a total of 59 games to honor with nominations in categories ranging from Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction to Family Game of the Year. The games in these categories will be voted on by experts in the industry who, according to the ceremony’s website, “comprise an incredible body of accomplishments in all facets of game craft; art, design, engineering, animation, performance, and production.” In having peers vote on the games, the Academy ensures that the DICE Awards truly reflect the best that video games have to offer.
