Krafton, the studio behind battle royale PUBG, is trying something different: a Sims competitor built in Unreal Engine 5.
Krafton showed off the game during G-STAR 2023, an international gaming event in Busan, South Korea. The video, below, shows off an impressive-looking life simulation game with realistic graphics.
Familiar Sims elements are present and correct, but with a hyper-realistic look. We see characters go about their lives, character creation, relationships, Build Mode, and a Director’s Mode in which you can change the character’s schedule, the weather, and even the city. You can apply filters to the in-game picture, too.
InZoi is one of Krafton's new “self-developed” games due out from 2024. It said players “become gods” within the game, which lets them change everything as they wish “and experience endless new stories in various forms of life”.
Here’s the official blurb: “Do you have a life you've always dreamed of? Do you need a unique experience that blurs the line between reality and imagination? In InZoi you can freely control the world like a god and make your ideal life a reality. Also, rather than simply living the life given to you, you can become the protagonist who leads the life you want. It's time to create your own story at InZoi, where infinite possibilities await!”
That’s all we have for now, and there’s no release window. But with The Sims 5 waiting in the wings, InZoi is certainly one to watch.
