Loulan was announced by Chinese developer ChillyRoom last week, as part of Sony’s ongoing China Hero Project incubation programme. However, despite the reveal, we still haven’t seen a second of gameplay footage – and don’t really know much about the game at all. Presumably, for Mandarin speakers, this ChinaJoy 2024 panel captured by Gematsu is illuminating; for the rest of us, there’s only a couple of pieces of artwork to ogle.
The game’s official blurb, via Google Translate, reveals: “Players will take on the role of a guard, using their unique abilities to explore and solve puzzles, experience realistic cold-weapon combat, defeat powerful enemies, and fight against their own destiny.”
Anyone want to bet against?
We want to say some of these images look classic God of War-esque, but the reality is we’re probably looking at another Soulslike here. Either way, Sony has identified the project as one it wants to support, so hopefully we learn more soon.

Looks promising but man, what's with China Hero and their obsession with souls-likes lately lol I'm kinda glad that Lost Soul Aside is still gonna retain that ol' hack and slash goodness and not dumb it down to «souls-like». I love souls likes as much as the next guy but atleast spice it up.
@SoulsBourne128 You win some, you lose some. Personally I would love more games to tackle their gameplay similar to Dragon´s Dogma. A balanced approach between the slower and grounded souls gameplay and the crazy DMC style 5 minute long air combo stuff.
