James Bond is an iconic franchise, and for ages now, we’ve seen several actors give their rendition of the iconic spy. However, it’s been a good while since we received a James Bond video game. At one point, these games thrived over the years and delivered adaptations from the movie franchise and standalone storylines featuring 007. But since 2012, we have entered a dry spell with the video game series. That will eventually change, as IO Interactive is working on Project 007.
The development team, who has hit new strides with the Hitman franchise, unveiled a while ago that they were bringing out a James Bond video game. Right now, the title is only Project 007, and details of what to expect have yet to be unveiled. Still, that didn’t stop Eurogamer from pressing the IO Interactive co-owners Christian Elverdam and Hakan Abrak to determine what Project 007 will entail. Again, don’t expect much regarding what the game will feature. But we know the studio is bringing out an origin story for the James Bond character.
Christian Elverdam noted that they were doing an origin story as they managed to gain the trust of Eon Productions. This will be the origin story of James Bond for the video game franchise, so it might not line up with any of the previously used storylines in the cinematic films. But again, since so many actors have taken on James Bond over the years, it’s not unusual to see some new slight changes in the iconic character.
