Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown just showed off an extended look at its gameplay and combat at Ubisoft Forward, revealing that the series' signature time reversal ability is making a comeback.
We see the ability to rewind time in action during a platform segment in which a shattered statue is put back together so that the prince can use it to reach a higher platform. It's also used in a cutscene to unwind a defeat in which he's shot into a wall with a sword lodged into his shoulder, saving himself from the brink of death.

Aside from rewinding time, the new gameplay trailer showed a wealth of mythological creatures that we can look forward to getting into scraps with, like a giant gryphon. We saw a few weapons in play, too, like a spear, sword, and bow, so it looks like we'll be able to spruce up the hack-and-slash combat throughout our time with the prince. On top of that, we know that the new Prince of Persia is a Metroidvania-style game, with a semi-open world.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown was announced during the Summer Game Fest on June 8, rebooting the series with a new prince while bringing it back to the 2D days. Developed by the studio behind Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends, Ubisoft Montpellier, you'd think that would be exciting. Gamers, of course, don't agree.
