The movie poster for Prey uses the Predator's blood in a brilliant way. The upcoming film will be the fifth entry in the popular monster-horror Predator franchise that began in 1987 with John McTiernan's Predator starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers, and Jesse Ventura. The original film received mixed reviews from critics at the time but proved immensely popular with audiences, pulling in over $100 million at the box office and developing a loyal cult following. Prey will be a prequel set 300 years before the original film and will focus on a Comanche warrior named Naru who takes it upon herself to hunt and kill the Predator alien who threatens her people.
Legion's Amber Midhunter, a Sioux actor, stars as Naru in the upcoming film. Director Dan Trachtenberg found it important to cast an indigenous actor for the lead role due to the fact that there was a significant opportunity for positive representation of Comanches, which is rarely seen in Hollywood. Midhunter is joined by Julian Black Antelope, Stormee Kipp, Dakota Beavers, Michelle Thrush, and former professional basketball player Dane DiLiegro who plays the Predator.
