Prey director Dan Trachtenberg takes to social media to respond to the leak of the trailer for his upcoming film. Prey will be the fifth entry into the long-running monster-horror Predator franchise dating back to 1987 with the release of John McTiernan's Predator starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers, and Jesse Ventura. The original film went on to be a hit at the box office, garnering nearly $100 million, and developed a loyal cult following. Prey is set 300 years ago in North America, and follows the Comanche warrior Naru who must stalk and kill the alien hunter who threatens her people.
Amber Midthunder, known for her work on Legion, stars as Naru in the upcoming film. She is joined by Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp, Michelle Thrush, Julian Black Antelope, and former professional basketball player-turned-actor Dane DiLiegro who will portray the Predator. Prey first began development in secret during the production of the franchise's previous film, The Predator (2018), which was written and directed by Shane Black. Prey's first teaser was recently released to an enthusiastic public response. Over the weekend, a new Prey trailer was shared online as it leaked, and now Trachtenberg responds.
