Portable AMD EPYC Workstation Packs Up To Dual 96-Core Genoa CPUs & Six 4K Displays, Weighs Up To 55 Lbs
Mediaworkstations has unveiled its new a-X2P portable AMD EPYC PC that packs up to dual Genoa CPUs and six 4K displays while weighing 55 lbs.
Mediaworkstations, a PC company that creates mobile workstations for media & technical users seeking systems for tasks that a standard laptop alone would not be able to accomplish, has added a new variant to its line of mobile superpower workstations that offers up to two AMD EPYC 9654 CPUs and 6 TB of DDR5 memory.
The new Mediaworkstation a-X2P workstation can feature up to two of the fastest Genoa chips that AMD has on offer, the EPYC 9654, with up to 96 cores and 192 threads per chip and a cTDP of up to 300W. The system is hefty at up to 55 lbs. & measures 16.35 x 24.6 x 10.6 inches. Even considering this workstation is a PC/laptop hybrid, this is not the workstation you would take to the cafe.
Other than knowing that it is a dual-socket design for AMD EPYC CPUs, the specifics of the SP5 motherboard being utilized for the system are unknown. However, Mediaworkstations does mention that they are using the Gigabyte Management Console web interface for the Aspeed AST2600 Management Controller. Jumping over to Gigabyte's website, we verified that the system must use the MZ73 series, an E-ATX form factor server motherboard that offers up to 24 DIMM slots supporting DDR5-4800 3DS RDIMMs with capacities up to 256 GB.
The Mediaworkstation a-X2P offers six 24-inch displays offer a two-row by three-column display layout with HD or UHD resolutions with up to two GPUs inside. Since the company chose to support PCIe Gen4 instead of the newer Gen5, it is determined that Mediaworkstation chose the Gigabyte MZ723-LM1 board instead of the MZ723-LM0 version.
