For many fans, both longtime and new, Pokemon Legends: Arceus appears to be the shot in the arm that the franchise needed. While players will ultimately continue to capture wild creatures known as Pokemon, the latest game in the popular franchise mixes things up through a number of new mechanics and features. This time around, players are part of an expedition team charged with studying and researching Pokemon in the pre-Sinnoh region called Hisui.
While a lot has changed from the previous entries in the franchise, such as how players can catch new Pokemon, there's a lot of elements that are making a return as well. Evolution stones and their ability to evolve certain Pokemon like Eevee are back and perhaps easier to find than they have been in the past. Even the starters available in Hisui are returning favorites with Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawatt.

The Friendship mechanic also makes its return in Pokemon Legends: Arceus and remains important for a variety of reasons. While friendship rises over time, here are a few tips on ranking it up even faster than normal.
Originally introduced as loyalty inside of the Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal games, the friendship mechanic is essentially a gauge for how much a Pokemon likes their trainer. Interestingly enough, Friendship was added to Pokemon Yellow, but at that point in time, it only impacted Pikachu.
Friendship affects a number of different things within the games including the availability of certain items, being tougher during battles, and the power levels of Return and Frustration. Friendship level also impacts certain Pokemon's ability to evolve including Riolu, Chansey, Eevee, Pichu, and more.
