Pokemon GO PokeStops Disappear from University
Nearly all Pokemon GO PokeStops from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California are now gone, according to members of the local Pokemon GO community. Pokemon GO players are extremely confused by the situation, as the disappearance of PokeStops can stifle community growth and trainer progression in the area.
Pokemon GO Season 14 is currently underway, with various limited-time events being planned leading into June 2024. Throughout these new events, PokeStops serve as useful hubs for players as they prepare for raid battles, gather items, accept Field Research tasks, and meet up with fellow trainers. What's more, Pokemon GO's PokeStop Showcases give players another opportunity to gain additional rewards, such as Incubators, Star Pieces, Incense, Lure Modules, and much more. These resources may become scarce at the University of the Pacific campus in Stockton going forward, however.
Reddit user Fudgenuggets980825 and other Pokemon GO players are disappointed to see almost all the PokeStops from the University of the Pacific disappear. Only one PokeStop remains on the Stockton campus grounds, and many players are worried that the removal of the PokeStops may negatively impact the Pokemon GO community in the area. For example, the lack of PokeStops may cause players to look elsewhere for meet-ups and Pokemon GO Raid Day events. Other players speculate that the removal of the PokeStops may have been a decision influenced by the university's president.
The reaction from the player community on Reddit is mostly negative since similar situations have caused players to look outside their local area or favorite spots for PokeStops, Gyms, and more suitable areas for events like Pokemon GO Weather Week. Exploring the nearby area is less viable due to the lack of PokeStops and items that players can accrue.
