One major criticism that has faced the Pokemon series over the past couple of generations is that the games are too easy. These complaints obviously come from more experienced Pokemon fans, annoyed that they are now older and don't find the games as challenging anymore, but there has been a notable drop in difficulty ever since Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon on the 3DS.
Game Freak sought to address this criticism with the recently released Indigo Disk DLC for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, giving us tough trainers to fight, a whole new Elite Four packed with worryingly tough Pokemon, and more common double battles which require a lot more thought than simply sending out Tinkaton and spamming Gigaton Hammer.
However, despite all the warnings and the guarantee tough trainers will be waiting around every corner, some fans are getting slightly humbled by the DLC's difficulty. One such fan is Twitter user PokeliYT, who shared an image of their time after one battle, which includes both their Level 100 Meowscarada and Volcarona down for the count, as well as a KO'd Level 95 Gardevoir and a very peaky Level 89 Milotic.
Other players have also been sharing their struggle with the DLC in the replies to the tweet, with one user losing a double battle to a Plusle and Minun due to cockily going in underprepared. You'll find several other similar stories on social media, as well as several fans surprised at how hard some of these new trainers throw hands.
Instead of using your favorite Pokemon, it sounds like you'll need to put a bit of thought into your team selection when going up against certain trainers, and ensure you're not too underleveled when going in, something which you admittedly don't need to do all that often in the base game.
