Pirates of the Caribbean 5 star Brenton Thwaites comments on his possible franchise return, saying he's ready to go if an offer comes through. Thwaites starred in Dead Men Tell No Tales as Henry Turner, the son of Orlando Bloom's Will Turner and Keira Knightley's Elizabeth Swann who sets off in the hopes of finding the Trident of Poseidon to break the curse binding his father to the Flying Dutchman. Henry must work with astronomer Carina Smyth and Jack Sparrow, who is being hunted down by the undead pirate-hunter Armando Salazar, to find the Trident.
Johnny Depp returned to lead the cast of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales as Jack alongside fellow franchise vets Geoffrey Rush as Barbosa, Kevin McNally as Gibbs, Stephen Graham as Scrum, Martin Klebba as Marty, Giles New as Murtogg and Angus Barnett as Mullroy. Thwaites was one of the many franchise newcomers in the film alongside Javier Bardem as the villainous Salazar and Kaya Scodelario as Carina Barbosa. Hitting theaters in 2017, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales continued the franchise's negative review streak and was the second-lowest-grossing entry in the series behind the original film, only bringing in $794 million against its reported $320 million production budget.
