Paytm was reportedly down for several users across India in the early hours of August 5. Numerous complaints were received on social media after many were unable to make payments via Paytm. Users reported that they were unable to login to the app and make payments. Paytm later acknowledged the issue and assured that it is working on a fix as soon as possible. At the time of writing, Paytm seems to be working fine, allowing all transactions.
Downdetector, the website that records all website crashes, reports that Paytm services were disrupted for a few hours earlier this morning. Users started complaining about the outage around 9 AM and the complaints peaked at around 10 AM, with almost 600 complaints registered. However, the issue seems to have been completely resolved by 11 AM and Paytm now seems to be working fine.
In an official tweet, Paytm said, "Due to a network error across Paytm, a few of you might be facing an issue in logging into the Paytm Money App/website. We are already working on fixing the issue at the earliest. We will update you as soon as it is resolved."
The issue were vastly reported from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and other top cities. Several people took to the internet to express their displeasure about the disruption in services.
“Faced huge loss as paytm money was not working. Worst decision to choose paytm as broker. My stock was on day high but couldnt sell it. Pathetic,” said one user.
Another user wrote, “Paytm down for so long, suffering for poor decision to rely on Paytm.”
Paytm is essentially a wallet payment app but one can also carry out UPI based transactions from the app. Additionally, users can also use the app to pay bills, recharge both prepaid and postpaid numbers, and do a lot more.
