In the latest developer diary for Payday 3 from Starbreeze Studio, the team has confirmed that there will be parity between PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Payday 2 has a history of having received less support on consoles in the past, with support eventually dropped while PC support continued, and that is acknowledged by executive producer Craig McLeod and Almir Listo, Global Brand Director.
To make sure no Payday 3 player is left behind, players will need to sign up to Starbreeze Nebula. That will tie up all the Payday 3 progression under one umbrella, and it will allow things such as cross-progression across all platforms with ease. The overall aim is to keep one Payday 3 community together, instead of the fractured nature that impacted Payday 2 on the previous generation.
Emphasising teamwork and coordination, Payday encourages players to collaborate and strategise as they navigate stealth sections, repel ambushes, and manage side tasks. Its enduring popularity is clearly present through the sheer amount of DLC that has steadily dropped throughout the past decades, adding new heists, weapons, and even crossover characters including John Wick.
Both Craig McLeod and Almir Listo express their thanks to the Payday community too. Craig has said thanks for welcoming him to the community, while Almir expresses thanks to the community, especially the console players, for sticking by them in spite of the past issues that plagued the series.
Payday 3 will be releasing for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on 21st September. The game will be launching straight into Xbox Game Pass on day one too.
