Have you played Orna, the fantasy RPG & GPS MMO by Northern Forge Studios? The game’s gearing up for a one-of-a-kind in-game event that has a lot to do with the real world. Orna is rolling out Terra’s Legacy to raise awareness of environmental pollution.
Terra’s Legacy is an event in Orna where you’ll fight pollution-themed enemies and restore real-world polluted locations by planting trees and growing fruits. The event is running from September 9th to the 19th.
During Terra’s Legacy, your Orna exploration will be blended with actual environmental action. Amidst your day-to-day activities, Orna will let you find places that are just downright polluted or covered in garbage.
Once you submit those spots through the game, the devs at Northern Forge will turn them into Gloomsites. These will basically act as in-game locations that represent the mess we’re making on our planet.
What happens at these Gloomsites? You’ll face off against the Murk, a nasty waste-themed enemy that symbolises pollution. It might even make you feel like Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind or Princess Mononoke!
When you take down the Murk, you’re actively contributing to raising awareness about real-world pollution. You can plant trees and grow Gaia apples in the same polluted areas. And you’ll be able to use the Gaia apples to customise your character and boost their magical abilities.
Other players can harvest the apples, too, so everyone gets in on the rewards. The more players who team up, the cleaner the world gets, both in-game and out.
Orna is dropping Terra’s Legacy as part of the Green Game Jam 2024. It’s an annual event where game devs from all over the world join forces to create events that focus on environmental awareness.
So, head over to the Google Play Store and grab Orna, the GPS RPG to contribute to this environmental mission.
