Cycling sims have suddenly become all the rage, and Wheel World – formerly known as Ghost Bike – looks like one to watch. It’s coming to PS5 and PS4 in 2025, although it was previously pegged for 2024. Perhaps all that drama with publisher Annapurna Interactive has pushed it back.
This is an open world game where the “fate of the universe rests on your handlebars”. The press release teases: “You are Kat, a young cyclist with one mission: save Wheel World from total collapse. Explore a stunning open world filled with impressive vistas, hidden secrets, and races that will test your skills. Customize your bike with an endless array of parts, from sleek speedsters to off-road beasts – there’s no limit to how you can ride.”
In addition to exploration, you’ll also find yourself taking on “elite cycling teams” in high-stakes races. And all of this will be set against a soundtrack curated by indie record label Italians Do It Better, so expect plenty of synthpop and such. Looks good!
