The world of One Piece has a new Yonko and it's someone readers might not have expected: Buggy the Clown. The hit manga been expanding its world ever since the days of East Blue and characters have been racing to keep up ever since. Some of these characters have since become world renowned fighters, pirates feared worldwide, and leaders of fearsome grand fleets. With his new status, Buggy has someone managed to become all three.
The title of «Yonko,» and by extension that of an Emperor of the Sea, refers to a pirate who has amassed enough territory and power that they are considered a major political player in the world and a dangerous enemy to the World Government. Those who have held the title in the past have all had extraordinarily powerful abilities combined with a strong crew and mastery over several forms of Haki. As far as recent One Piece chapters go, Buggy has showcased almost none of these attributes. Despite this, his crew hasn’t really been able to show off their abilities in recent times, and there is evidence that Buggy and his fleet have gotten much more powerful since the days of Orange Town. Still, there remains the question of whether Buggy and his crew really have what it takes to be at the top of the seas.
